MAKASSAR, February 28, 2025 - The Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia H.E. Jess Dutton visited Makassar New Port (MNP) as part of an effort to strengthen bilateral relations between Canada and Indonesia, as well as explore collaboration opportunities that Canada can do with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo.
During the visit which took place at the MNP Office, the Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia H.E. Jess Dutton and his entourage were welcomed by Pelindo Regional 4 Management and Subholding Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (SPTP), as well as local government representatives on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
The visit aims to better understand the strategic role of MNP as one of the largest infrastructure projects in Eastern Indonesia, as well as explore the potential for cooperation between Canada and Indonesia, especially opportunities that can be collaborated with Pelindo.
“Canada is committed to continuing to strengthen its relationship with Indonesia, including in the maritime sector. Makassar New Port is a clear example of how Indonesia is developing its marine logistics and transportation sector. We see great opportunities to expand cooperation in this area,” Ambassador Dutton said.
During the visit, Ambassador Dutton and his entourage also directly reviewed the operations and facilities at Makassar New Port through the Planning and Control Room (PnC) located on the 3rd Floor of the MNP Office, which is a room to monitor and control ship services, terminals, containers, and other facilities.
