Boalemo Regency Government Invites Pelindo to Build the Country Through Tilamuta Port Development

MAKASSAR, 13 January 2025 The Boalemo Regency Government invites PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo as part of the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) that drive the national logistics sector to jointly develop our beloved country through cooperation in the development of Tilamuta Port located in Boalemo, Gorontalo Province.

This was said by the elected Boalemo Regent for the 2025-2030 period, Rum Pagau, during a visit to coordinate the development of Tilamuta Port at the Pelindo Regional 4 Office in Makassar, Monday (13/1/2025).

The elected Boalemo Regent Rum Pagau said that Tilamuta Port is one of the strategic infrastructures in the region to support economic growth in Boalemo Regency and its surroundings.

‘Tilamuta Port is a port that has potential with the hinterland of Boalemo Regency as a large producer of agricultural commodities. In this district there are sugar factories, palm oil factories, cooking oil factories, and to be built are rubber factories, chocolate factories and palm oil derivative factories,’ explained Rum Pagau.

He added that Boalemo Regency is also the largest corn producer in Gorontalo. ‘The area is half of Boalemo district,’ he said.

According to him, all commodities in Boalemo Regency can become a big business potential if Tilamuta Port is managed properly and professionally. So that the economic growth of the region will also be quickly felt by the local community and its surroundings.

During this time, Rum Pagau continued, commodities in Boalemo are transported out through Anggrek Port located in North Gorontalo Regency. ‘If the facilities are adequate, of course all commodities can be transported through Tilamuta Port.’

The Regent of Boalemo hopes that Tilamuta Port can be improved in terms of capacity and facilities to support connectivity and logistics distribution, especially for its superior commodities. ‘Tilamuta Port has a strategic role as Boalemo's economic gateway. With the synergy between the local government and Pelindo, we are optimistic that the development of this port will have a significant impact on the welfare of the community,’ he said.

Pelindo has previously signed an MoU with the Boalemo Regency Government for cooperation in guiding at Tilamuta Port.

In response, Pelindo Regional 4 Executive Director Abdul Azis welcomed the initiative and commitment of the local government in supporting port development. ‘Pelindo is committed to continue synergising with the local government and other stakeholders in an effort to optimise the potential of Tilamuta Port,’ he said.
