Celebrating its 3rd Anniversary, Pelindo Holds Pelindo Teaching Programme

Jakarta, 9 August 2024 - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo again shows its commitment in the field of social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) through the implementation of the Pelindo Mengajar programme. This programme is held simultaneously throughout Indonesia as part of a series of Pelindo's 3rd Anniversary celebrations which will take place from August to September 2024.

Pelindo Mengajar is a programme designed to introduce the port and logistics industry to high school students. This time, the Pelindo Mengajar programme will be held in more than 50 schools across Indonesia.

‘This programme also aims to motivate students to prepare themselves to become Indonesia's future leaders. In this programme, Pelindo Group directors will share their knowledge and experience directly with the students,’ said Pelindo HR and General Director Ihsanuddin Usman in Jakarta, Wednesday (8/8).

Through this programme, he continued, the students will not only gain knowledge about the port and logistics industry, but also be motivated to continue learning and contributing to the nation. In addition, Pelindo introduces ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) aspects, particularly related to the environment, through the company's plastic waste recycling programme. The company recycles plastic bottle waste into pouches that are given to students participating in the Pelindo Mengajar programme.

‘We want to ensure that through this programme, students can see first-hand how the Environmental values applied in the company's operations can be emulated in their daily lives,’ Ihsannuddin explained.

Pelindo Group Head of Corporate Secretariat Ardhy Wahyu Basuki added, in each school this programme will be attended by around 150 students. On that occasion, Pelindo also provided educational support with the main focus of encouraging digitalisation of teaching and learning through ICT assistance.

‘This is a tangible manifestation of Pelindo's commitment in supporting education in Indonesia and creating a young generation that is ready to face future challenges. We believe that good education must include an understanding of social and environmental responsibility,’ he said.
