Jakarta, 23 July 2024 - Special Economic Zone Java Integrated Industrial & Port Estate Gresik (KEK JIIPE Gresik) which is a mega project resulting from the strategic collaboration of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) & PT AKR Corporindo Tbk (AKRA) received the Best Industrial Special Economic Zone award from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta (18/07).
Gresik Special Economic Zone, Java Integrated Industrial & Port Estate (JIIPE) operated by a subsidiary of PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera (BKMS), has been designated as an industrial category Special Economic Zone through PP No.71 of 2021 concerning Gresik Special Economic Zone and has received a Decree to fully operate on 8 November 2022.
The government through PP 40 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Special Economic Zones has also prepared fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, which confirm the government's commitment to provide support to industrial development and investment in the country.
Fiscal incentives are detailed in the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) No. 237 / PMK.010 / 2020 concerning Taxation, Customs and Excise Treatment in Special Economic Zones.
AKRA President Director, Haryanto Adikoesoemo stated, KEK Gresik, JIIPE has also provided world-class utility facilities needed by industry, as well as a special port and has become an investment destination for many foreign and domestic companies.
‘This award is a recognition and form of Government support for KEK JIIPE Gresik. We hope that KEK JIIPE Gresik will increasingly attract foreign and domestic investors, ‘said Haryanto, in a press release.
He continued, with the development of a downstream ecosystem driven by the operation of the world's largest copper smelter in JIIPE and other industrial ecosystems, it will encourage the growth of value-added industries in Indonesia.
In addition, with the availability of world-class industrial utilities operated by PT BKMS, as well as deep sea port services operated by PT Berlian Manyar Sejatera (BMS) as a subsidiary of Pelindo to provide services to tenants in JIIPE in obtaining convenience and strategic access.
‘These developments will also boost the regional economy of East Java and help the Indonesian Government's programme in increasing the competitiveness of the domestic industry,’ he said.
