Pelindo Group Improves Access to Education for Kaluku Bodoa Community

MAKASSAR, May 29, 2024 - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Group in the Makassar working area implemented the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program by holding a “Learning House” activity in Kaluku Bodoa Village, Makassar City.   

This TJSL activity in the field of education which is a collaboration between Pelindo Regional 4, Subholding Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (SPTP), and Subholding Pelindo Maritime Services (SPJM) aims to improve access and education services for the community, especially elementary school children.

This Rumah Belajar activity is a tangible form of Pelindo's concern in the field of education. Through this program, Pelindo hopes to make a positive contribution to improving the quality of education in Kaluku Bodoa Village and its surroundings.

Kaluku Bodoa Village, which is directly adjacent to the New Makassar Container Terminal 2 or previously known as Makassar New Port (MNP), was chosen as the location of this activity to provide direct benefits to residents around the port. 

The “Rumah Belajar” activity targets elementary school children by providing lessons according to class needs. For students in grades 1 to 3, the material provided is calistung, namely reading, writing, and counting. While for students in grades 4 to 6, the materials taught are math and English.

Pelindo Regional 4 Executive Director Abdul Azis said that the overall goal of the Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility program is to improve the standard of living of the community, especially in the Pelindo work environment area.  

It is known that Pelindo's TJSL focuses on three areas, namely Education, Environment, and Development of MSMEs or Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

Abdul Azis is grateful that his party can continuously implement the TJSL program, especially around the area where the Company activities. “Hopefully, what Pelindo does can benefit the community and the surrounding environment,” he said.

Division Head of Human Resources and General Services of Pelindo Regional 4, Basri Alam said that the activities carried out since the third week of May aimed to develop the academic abilities of children in Kaluku Bodoa Village. 

“We want all children to have equal opportunities in getting educational services and learning opportunities,” he said. 

Through this activity, it is hoped that it can help develop and increase the potential of these children.
