Pelindo Continues Community Empowerment Program and Environmental Preservation in Raja Ampat

Raja Ampat, 20 May 2024 - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) / Pelindo implements community empowerment and environmental preservation programs in the Raja Ampat tourism area, West Papua. The activity, which involves PT Askrindo and PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas as Co-PICs, is part of the Batch V SOE Volunteer Program for Indonesia, which was initiated by the Ministry of SOEs.

"For three days (May 20-22) we facilitated MSME hospitality development and provided conservation education to local residents. One of the goals is to increase the impact of the Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSR) program through refocusing the program in specific areas," said Pelindo's Director of Human Resources and General Affairs, Ihsanuddin Usman, in Raja Ampat, Monday (20/5).

The activity was opened by the Deputy for Human Resource Management, Technology and Information of the Ministry of SOEs, Tedi Bharata, on Mutus Island. Also present were Pelindo Corporate Secretary Ardhy Wahyu Basuki and Askrindo President Director Fankar Umran.

Volunteer Bakti BUMN is a collaborative SOE CSR Program, which provides an opportunity for all employees of the Ministry of SOEs and SOE Group to participate in the CSR Program in their respective units and across SOEs. Batch V of the Bakti BUMN program was held in 10 provinces, namely Raja Ampat (Southwest Papua); Maumere (East Nusa Tenggara); Samboja and the Capital of the Archipelago-IKN (East Kalimantan); Padang (West Sumatra); Magelang (Central Java); Pontianak (West Kalimantan); Bengkalis (Riau); Bantul (Yogyakarta); Morowali (Central Sulawesi); and Mojokerto (East Java).

The Bakti BUMN Volunteers for Indonesia Batch V Raja Ampat program raised the theme 'Sustainable Raja Ampat Conservation Area'. This activity involved 10 selected BUMN Bakti Volunteers, and 10 ESR (Employee Social Responsibility) staff of Pelindo and Askrindo.

Ihsanuddin explained, the Bakti Volunteers participated in teaching elementary and junior high school students in Mutus, followed by the action of calculating Greenhouse Gas measurements and Coral Reef Rehabilitation.

"Overall, the activities include assistance for 4 MSME kiosk boards in Piaynemo, revitalization of 3 homestays in Yefkabu, assistance for 2 freezer units for fishermen on Bianci Island, renovation of docks and churches in Manyaifun, and assistance for 100 school supplies on Mutus Island. In addition, mangrove and coral reef planting was carried out, as well as the distribution of donations of children's clothing and toys on Manyaifun Island," he explained.

The location of this Volunteer Bakti activity is the site of the Raja Ampat SOE TJSL Collaboration Program for Environment and Community Empowerment with 11 other SOEs, last March. Previously, Pelindo as PIC together with 11 SOEs collaborated to renovate docks, places of worship, toilet facilities, and mangrove planting in Mutus Village and Manyaifun Village. They also conducted coral reef rehabilitation on Yefkabu Island, West Waigeo District, Raja Ampat.
