Preparing for Digital Transformation, Pelindo Regional 4 Makassar Installs Turnstile for Pedestrians

MAKASSAR, November 10, 2023 - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 4 Makassar has again transformed digitally by installing a Turnstile device at gate 2 specifically for pedestrians who will enter and exit at the Port of Makassar, starting Friday (10/11/2023).

With this turnstile device installed, every pedestrian who will enter the Makassar Port must attach their respective e-money cards. Of course, the e-money cards of the pedestrians must have a balance in it.

Turnstile is a device used to limit and control pedestrians who will enter a certain area, which is equipped with a locking system and a motor.

General Manager (GM) of Pelindo Regional 4 Makassar, Iwan Sjarifuddin said that so far, especially at gate 2, the use of e-money to enter Makassar Port is only required for owners of four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles.

"As for pedestrians, the entrance fee or pass of Rp 5,000 is still collected manually by the officer, which is exchanged for an entrance ticket," Iwan explained.

Through the digitalization transformation for pedestrians entering Makassar Port by attaching an e-money card to the turnstile, according to Iwan, it will further minimize and even make the Makassar Port area zero illegal levies or extortion.
