Pushing MSMEs to Upgrade Class, Pelindo Subholding Submits Halal Certificates

Jakarta, March 6, 2023 - PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik or SPSL as the Pelindo Port BUMN Subholding supports the government's program of phasing out the mandatory halal certification for food and beverage businesses, slaughter products, and stage one slaughter services.

According to the Head of the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH), Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), said that based on the provisions, after October 17, 2024, for food and beverage businesses, slaughter products, and slaughter services, must be halal certified. And in accordance with Law number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation, micro and small business actors are required to have a halal certificate for their processed products.

Through one of the Company's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs, namely the MSME Halal certification program for free, SPSL facilitates the processing of halal certification for 20 MSMEs in the company's work area. This program is one of SPSL's real actions in responding to the obstacles faced by MSME actors in the process of obtaining halal certificates which are expected to encourage MSME actors to be able to increase their business scale and continue to implement the principles of good corporate governance and laws and regulations.

In its implementation, the provision of free MSME halal certificates is in collaboration with LPPOM MUI DKI Jakarta. On previous occasions, SPSL and LPPOM MUI DKI Jakarta have provided technical assistance regarding Halal certification, guidance and assistance in filling out forms, making the required legality, and filling in the "Sihalal" application to the assisted MSMEs.

"This free MSME Halal certification program is a form of SPSL's active role in supporting government programs in phasing out halal certification obligations and encouraging economic recovery through the development of MSMEs which are the backbone of an economy based on a people's economy. This program is expected to strengthen MSMEs in dealing with declining purchasing power and in line with the Government's efforts to boost the national economy," said Kiki M Hikmat Senior Vice President Corporate Secretary.

Kiki added, SPSL also continues to make efforts to support MSMEs to be able to survive, to expand their marketing so that they can gradually upgrade to the national level or even in the international market.

"As a BUMN Subsidiary, we will continue to be committed to consistently implementing social and environmental responsibility programs in line with the government's commitment to realizing MSMEs Go Global," concluded Kiki.
