Erick Thohir Encourages Pelindo to Continue Transformation

Ciawi, 19 January 2023 - The Minister of SOEs of the Republic of Indonesia Erick Thohir appreciated the performance of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo and encouraged the Company to continue the transformation process. This directive was conveyed during the Fire Briefing session during the Pelindo Integration Forum activities in Ciawi.

"BUMN's function is as a bastion of the Indonesian economy. As a corporation, we must become a healthy SOE. If we are healthy, we will be a counterbalance to the Indonesian economy. The acceleration that we are doing is successful because we are healthy, we are united, we work together. Thank you to Pelindo for good performance and growth, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic," said Erick.

Erick added that the transformation within SOEs was successful due to the transformation of human capital and business models. Through the transformation, Pelindo has succeeded in reducing the duration (port stay and cargo stay), then the standardization of operations from east to west must be the same.

After the merger, Pelindo became the 8th largest container operator in the world. “At least in the future it will be in the top 5. We want to build a national economic fortress, therefore we must become global players," Erick continued.
