Jakarta, 31 December 2022 - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo recorded that as many as 1.1 million people traveled during the homecoming period for Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 through a number of passenger terminals managed by the Company from 10 December 2022 to 30 December 2022. This figure has increased to 71.2% from the same period in 2021, namely 645,365 people.
"We recorded that the highest increase in the number of passengers occurred on December 21, 2022 with a flow of passengers reaching 71,390 people," said Pelindo Corporate Secretariat Group Head Ali Mulyono.
The eight passenger terminals in each region that are predominantly passed by travelers include Tanjung Pinang Port with 145,159 passengers, Tanjung Balai Karimun Port with 86,380 passengers, Tanjung Priok Port with 27,786 passengers, Tanjung Perak Port with 72,425 passengers, Kupang Port with 31,050 passengers, Makassar Port with 58,352 passengers, Pare-Pare Port with 51,411 passengers, and Ambon Port with 47,480 people.
"During the 2022/2023 Nataru homecoming period, we fully support the Government's program by maintaining the smooth operation of the 63 passenger terminals managed by Pelindo, including making Ciwandan Port, Banten and Panjang Port, Lampung as alternative ports to serve Ro-Ro Ships to reduce congestion in the Merak - Bakaheuni crossing route," added Ali.
In the smooth flow of Nataru 2022/2023, apart from mooring facilities, Pelindo also provides services and security with a 24/7 pattern, terminal facilities that support the comfort of passengers, vehicle parking areas, tents for rest areas, prayer rooms, toilets, lactation rooms, and so that passengers can feel safe and comfortable.
"We are also improving coordination with port agencies regarding checking passenger travel requirements, increasing information regarding ship schedules for prospective passengers, and preparing facilities and infrastructure. This is also supported by the Integrated Sea Transportation Post for Christmas 2022 and 2023 New Year which is ready to serve from 18 December 2022 to 08 January 2023," concluded Ali.
