Waingapu, November 5, 2022 - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo inaugurated a new passenger terminal with a capacity of 1,500 people at the Port of Waingapu on Friday (04/11). The inauguration was attended by the Deputy Assistant to the Ministry of SOEs for Logistics Services, the President Director of Pelindo, the Managing Director of Pelindo, the Deputy Regent of East Sumba, Regional Head 3 of Pelindo, the Head of KSOP class IV Waingapu Port, and related stakeholders.
In his remarks, Regional Head 3 of Pelindo Ardhy Wahyu Basuki said that the construction of the new passenger terminal at Waingapu Port was intended to accommodate the increasing number of passengers in and out of movement, which is around 70,000 people a year or around 200 people per day, "in dealing with the high movement of passengers. At the Waingapu Port passenger terminal, we feel the need for the construction of more appropriate and adequate passenger terminal facilities,” said Ardhy.
Ardhy expressed his gratitude to the East Sumba Regency government and related stakeholders for their support in the construction of this new passenger terminal, with the revitalization of this new passenger terminal it has increased an area of approximately 1500 m2 which can accommodate 1,000 people, compared to the previous building which could only accommodate 200 people.
