PLN Turns Pelindo Port into a Green Port

Nusa Dua, 02 November 2022 - PT PLN (Persero) cooperates with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo to turn ports spread across Indonesia into more environmentally friendly ports. This step is also a form of BUMN synergy in supporting the Net Zero Emission target in 2060.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo explained that PLN in collaboration with Pelindo will turn Pelindo's port into a green port. This green port concept carries electricity-based energy as a substitute for fuel which has been commonly used by ships when docking.

"This cooperation step is also in line with our program in Electricfying Marine which changes the need for fuel that is usually used for port operations to be electricity-based," said Darmawan in the signing of the MoU at the Energy Transition Day event, Tuesday (1/11) in Bali.

Darmawan explained that PLN would build Independent Electric Platforms (ALMA) in 24 port areas belonging to Pelindo. This ALMA can be used by small fishermen and small boats to charge equipment, cold storage and battery-based ship engines.

In addition, PLN will also build a Shore Connection to answer the electricity needs of the large and medium ship segment for charging. A total of 27 MVA of power from the Shore Connection will be built by PLN in several main ports belonging to Pelindo spread across Java, Kalimantan, NTT and NTB.
