Supporting GP Mandalika, Pelindo Successfully Serves First Floating Hotel

Lombok (21/03) The Moto GP Mandalika 2022 event leaves a number of interesting stories, not only the success of its implementation but also various forms of support from various parties in the event, one of which is the inaugural service of a floating hotel in Gilimas Terminal, West Lombok owned by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero). ) or Pelindo.

On that occasion, the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Karya Sumadi even took the time to review the floating hotel services on Friday (18/03). "I appreciate this service, it can be an alternative for sea tourists. However, I ask a number of parties, both ship owners, namely Pelni and the port, namely Pelindo, to provide the best service so that the passengers staying here also receive good service," said the Minister of Transportation.

This floating hotel is a form of service provided by KM Kelud owned by PT Pelayaran Indonesia (PELNI). The ship which departed from Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta since Wednesday (13/03) docked at Lembar Harbor at Gilimas Terminal on Tuesday (15/03). The ship, which has a capacity of 2000 people, has been turned into a floating hotel and will dock at Gilimas Terminal during the Moto GP event, which is until March 21, 2022.

Regional Head 3 of Pelindo Ardhy Wahyu Basuki said that his party had prepared various supporting facilities for smooth floating hotel services, one of which was the provision of terminal facilities, provision of clean water for supply to ships, and providing free stalls for UKM to sell various passenger needs from ships such as food, clothing and souvenirs.

"We are trying to provide various alternatives to the success of the 2022 Mandalika GP, not only as a tourist gateway but we also provide floating hotel solutions to accommodate tourists who need a place to stay while watching the Mandalika GP. We hope to be a solution to the high demand for accommodation during a big event like this," said Ardhy.

Meanwhile, Wayan Gede, one of the passengers, said he was happy to have the experience of staying at a floating hotel in Gilimas Terminal, he also appreciated the Gilimas Terminal facilities so that their needs during their stay were well met.

"I am very proud of course because I have witnessed firsthand the international event that has attracted public interest, especially with the existence of a floating hotel with very good service, the terminal is also nice and clean, we can go directly to Mandalika with the transportation provided at this port," concluded Wayan.

Currently Gilimas Terminal already has a number of facilities that are quite adequate as a passenger terminal for both domestic and cruise ship visits. With an area of ​​4,884 M2, Gilimas Terminal can accommodate up to 1,500 passengers. In addition, Gilimas Terminal was also asked to be one of the supports for increasing the Special Economic Zone (KEK) for Mandalika Tourism, West Nusa Tenggara.
